We did it! Over the course of two days, June 13-14, hundreds of volunteers including our dental team and other dentists, hygienists, lab technicians, and community helpers – came together to put on the first ever NYS Mission of Mercy, a clinic which provided more than $1 million in free dental treatment to more than 1,000 needy men, women and children.
How was this possible? Obviously, all that volunteer effort, talent, time, and hard work, went a long way toward helping NYS MoM sponsors NYSDA and its Foundation once again demonstrate to the public what a caring, healing profession ours is. Both organizations exist to improve the oral health of all New Yorkers.
Programs like Mission of Mercy aren’t meant to replace the dental home which is needed by everybody, but they do represent a unique and important opportunity for us to come together as professionals and as a community, to give back and to work as a team.
